It is hard to admit that I can be my own worst enemy but it is true.  If I am not careful, my words will defeat my efforts before I can even get started.  Do you remember the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”?  Whoever came up with that saying, did not realize the effect that words can have on a person.   Read More…

What Kind Of Seagull Are You?

Pinterest

As I was listening to K-Love this morning, the morning DJ shared a story that I would like to share today.

He spoke about his experience while feeding seagulls.  As he stood there with saltine crackers in his hand being surrounded by literally hundreds of seagulls, he noticed that there were three kinds of birds.  One type of seagull never came near him…they were too scared to approach him and receive the gift (cracker) that he was offering to them. The second kind of seagulls were completely satisfied with just eating the crumbs that fell from his hand.  The third kind were bold and just took the cracker straight from his hand.

As he observed the behavior of the seagulls, he realized how believers are a lot like the seagulls when it comes to the blessings of God.  The first kind of bird does not feel worthy to receive the blessings of God or they are just to scared to “mess up” and would rather not approach God at all. Then, there are the believers who are satisfied with just the “crumbs”.  They want the blessing but are too scared to completely trust and believe.  Lastly, the are the believers who boldly take a hold of everything that God has to offer.

Then the commentator asked what kind of seagulls we thought ourselves to be. bigstock-Feeding-Seagulls-30035075

This got me to thinking…what kind of seagull am I?   Read More…
