Success Is A State Of Mind

Pinterest

“9 What do people really get for all their hard work? 10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. 12 So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. 13 And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.” Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 NLT

“So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is why we are here! No one will bring us back from death to enjoy life after we die.” Ecclesiastes 3:22 NLT

Success Can't Make You Happy - Happiness Makes You a Success

SUCCESS… If we ask people “what does ‘success’ mean to you?”, we will receive different answers.  Some people feel that success is having fame and fortune.  Others may define success as being rich or having a good reputation.  Still others may say that success is found in living debt free or being in good health.  Honestly, everyone’s definition will depend on where their priorities lie. Knowing the Source of Our Strength

Pinterest

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NLT

PrintI heard the cutest story last week about relying on God’s strength.  My cousin’s little girl just started school this year.  She was so excited her first week of school.  The second week, however, was not so easy.

She would go to school with tears in her eyes.  One day, her grandmother had lunch with her at school.  She asked the little girl about her struggles and how she was coping.  The grandmother advised her granddaughter to pray when she felt sad.  The little girl admitted that she did in fact pray and also recited the memory verse that she had learned.   Read More…

Touching Lives 4 Ever…

Pinterest

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NIVTeacher inspirational phrase on chalkboard

I can’t really say that I have many childhood memories.  Some people will say, “I remember when I was 5 years old…” or “when I was in the second grade…”  Well, I honestly can’t remember specific facts or events but, I do remember special people who made an impact on my life.  Most of those people were teachers.  To this day, if my first grade teacher sees me, she will call me by name.  Wow!  How does she remember me from so many years ago?  I can barely remember what I ate yesterday.  (Ok,…I do remember that, but you get what I am trying to say.)   Read More…

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.  23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”  Lamentations 3:22, 23 NASB

Fresh start

I am so grateful for God’s lovingkindness.  In His infinite mercy, he gives me a fresh start every morning.  How amazing is that?!  He doesn’t hold past mistakes against me. Read More…

Back to School…

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  Matthew 5:14-16 NLT

bigstock-Back-To-School-2008155Yes, it’s that time again.  It’s time to go back to school!  I’m not quite sure who is more excited…the students or the parents.  Although the summer months of rest are wonderful, I can honestly say that I also enjoy going back to school. Read More…

Life Lessons Learned…

“HEAR, MY sons, the instruction of a father, and pay attention in order to gain and to know intelligent discernment, comprehension, and interpretation [of spiritual matters]. For I give you good doctrine [what is to be received]; do not forsake my teaching.” Proverbs 4:1-2 AMP

This past Saturday, August 17th, my parents had the honor of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  My siblings and I, as well as the church family, celebrated their big day with a special service and dinner in their honor.  As we planned the service, we decided that instead of inviting a guest speaker we, my parent’s offspring, would bring some special words.

Our purpose was to share with others the life lessons that we, the children, had learned from our parents.  Here are some of the lessons that we have learned from our parents. Read More…

Nothing Worth Doing Is Ever Easy

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.” 1 Corinthians 9:24bigstock-The-quote-or-saying-words-Noth-43140082

“No Guts No Glory-Sir Francis Drake”…

“What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger-Friedrich Nietzsche”…

“When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade-Dale Carnegie”…

Nothing of great worth ever comes easy.  Have you ever noticed that?  It’s funny that when we work hard to earn or buy something that we really want…we guard it with our lives.  Yet, when things come easy, we don’t seem to pay much attention to them.  Why is that? Read More…

I Choose To Be Happy

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” James 1:2-3 NASB

bigstock-A-man-decides-that-life-is-wha-33761066

We can not control what happens to us in life but, we can decide how we will react in each circumstance.  Trouble is inevitable.  No matter how hard we try to avoid problems, they will come our way…of this we can be certain.

For the last month, my husband and I had tried to make a trip to East Texas to visit family.  However, every time we made plans something would come up and the trip was cancelled.  Finally, this last weekend, we made the desired trip.

From the very beginning, it was one obstacle after another.  We were suppose to reach our destination in a nine hour drive but, we ended up having to spend the night half way because of car trouble.  The original plan was to be gone 3 days Read More…

Struggling With Weaknesses…

Pinterest

bigstock-Funny-picture-of-a-hungry-over-40933495“14 So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. 15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. 16 But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. 17 So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.” Romans 7: 14-21 NLT

Why is it so easy to do the wrong thing and almost impossible to do what is right?  This principle seems so unfair…almost like a cruel joke.  When making choices between good and bad, I tend to go with the bad many times and then end up whining about my circumstances.  This seems to be the case with me lately when it comes to food.  Those that know me well know that I love to eat!   Read More…

Firm Foundation…

“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.” Psalms 127:1

I don’t know very much about what it takes to construct a building but, I do know that any type of permanent structure needs a firm foundation.   Without it, your structure will come tumbling down with just the slightest bit of force. Read More…
