In My Father’s Hands

“For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him.” Ecclesiastes 9:1 NASB

There is no better place to be than in my Heavenly Father’s hands.  A child feels invincible when they know that their father is in control.  I can say the same thing when I remember that God has complete control.  The problem comes when I allow myself to forget or stray away from His grasp.

Don’t get me wrong, God has never left me, but that doesn’t mean that I have never suffered loss or hardship.  I tend to suffer from “spiritual Alzheimer’s” I am only aware of the present situation…I seem to forget the numerous times that God has brought me out of difficult positions.  God knows what He is doing when trials come to my life.  Unfortunately, I tend to forget that my God is greater than what I am facing.  It is a good thing that my Father doesn’t give up on me so easily.

When I find myself surrounded by problems, I feel much like the Apostle Peter did when he took his eyes off of the Master in the middle of the storm.  All he could see at the time were the waves that seemed to overpower him.  It is beautiful to see that even in his time of weakness, Jesus still had mercy and compassion on Peter.  I’m so grateful that he showers me with that same mercy and compassion. My life is safe in God’s hands.  I don’t know what tomorrow brings…love, hatred, disaster, loss or blessings.  Whatever lies in store from me, I know that my Heavenly Father will be holding me in His hands the entire time.  Storms may come but so will the “new day.”  Just like the Apostle Paul wrote in the 8th chapter of Romans…nothing can separate us from the love (or hand) of God.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39 NIV
